AI Transparency Notice

Living Book uses AI at several narrow stages: interpreting a whisper, modelling a character's reception, measuring thematic pressure, choosing from scoped character knowledge, rendering prose from structured events, and auditing fidelity.

Psychology and causal state exist before prose. Character agents receive only scoped knowledge. The narrator renders; it does not decide events. A fidelity failure quarantines generated prose.

AI output may be wrong, surprising, or inconsistent. A character is a literary simulation, not a human being, therapist, doctor, or source of professional advice.

Adaptive passages are visually and semantically distinct from the canonical edition and were not written by the original author. Provider/model/build provenance is recorded without storing provider prompts in the usage ledger.

Status: operator approved for the narrowly bounded private beta. External review of final EU transparency language remains pending and advisory.
